> Small Farms, by Tana Butler

I have been photographing small farms for six years now. I hope to continue to visit farms for the rest of my life, all over the world. Sustainable agriculture creates beautiful places: working in harmony with nature requires good people. Farms are orderly and have their own rhythm that I find nourishes my spirit. I hope people look at the farms and ask, "Where is my pretty little farm? Who is my farmer?"

The photo you see here is a poignant one: Ella Bella was one of the prettiest little farms I ever saw. This picture is probably my single favorite of any farm. The farmer was forced to leave this land. The person who took over is growing strawberries there the "conventional" way, with toxins and pesticides.
